Sometime this month the Vancouver food cart scene will once again be expanding as the city is set to announce 12 new food carts. The final selection will be made from a vendor shortlist of 25 (cut down from the original 59 applicants). One surprise is another Korean Taco food cart. It’s surprising as the city just took away Coma Food Truck’s license. Not sure what happened there.
Both the Vancouver Sun and Inside Vancouver narrowed down the list of potential candidates. We listed them in the order of our favourites.
Sweet and savoury Belgian waffles. Who doesn’t like these?!
A pork lovers’ cart with bacon-inspired treats. Can’t go wrong with bacon, you really can’t.
British-Indian cuisine. Curry in a hurry? We’ll soon find out if it gets selected.
Mediterranean/Middle Eastern flat breads.
Smoothies. Perfect for the summertime. Now we don’t have to go to Jugo Juice to get our smoothie fix.
Julia Child meets French bistro. Love the name.
Contemporary Chinese snacks and dim sum. This is Vancouver after all and we love our Asian cuisine.
North Carolina BBQ sandwiches. A little southern hospitality never hurt no one.
Organic British pub fare. Burgers?
Authentic Thai street food: Love Thai food, if this is no good I’ll just continue going to Pink Elephant Thai on Alberni.
Sustainable meat sandwiches/dishes. Can’t have enough of these.
Wood-fired pizzas ($10). Pizza on the go, a much better option than Megabyte.
