The New Pornographers and Martha Wainwright are among the lineup for this year’s Vancouver Folk Music Festival at Jericho Beach in July, it has been announced.
Some 40,000 people are expected attended the festival, now in its 39th year, to enjoy indie, folk, world and roots music, on seven stages from July 15 to 17.
Other bands on the lineup include broad bluegrass/old time acoustic groups Leftover Salmon and Mandolin Orange and longtime festival favourites, Oysterband.
Soul music great, Lee Fields and the Expressions and virtuoso folk-blues trio The Ragpicker String Band will also appear.
More than 60 music acts from 18 countries, eight U.S. states and seven Canadian provinces will perform at the festival this year.
As well as music, festivalgoers will be able to enjoy a range of food and artisan vendors, a community village and a “Little Folks Area” for the kids.
Tickets are on sale now. Early bird discounts are available until June 4.
