What: Witness and be a part of a march against all forms of racism, bigotry, and oppression in Metro Vancouver, taking place later this month. The rally is being held as part of the United Nations’ (UN) International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which was made as a proclamation by the UN back in 1966. All are welcome to attend.

What: Every year, the Surrey Square Wheelers Square and Round Dance Club hosts a “happiness dance” as its main fundraiser for its perennial designated charity, The Centre for Child Development.
What: HMCS Discovery, the Royal Canadian Navy Reserve unit located within Stanley Park, has a rich history within the city of Vancouver. Located on a small area called Deadman’s Island, it is off-limits to visitors. Off-limits that is, except for this Saturday, March 24, when HMCS will host a free open house for the public, between 10 and 3 pm.
What: Enjoy a walk around one of North America’s single largest artificial turf fields that borders the Richmond Pitch and Putt golf course. A demonstration of the outdoor fitness circuit is offered following the walk.

What: In celebration of Steven Spielberg’s new movie “Ready Player One,” a massive downtown Vancouver takeover will go happening at the Vancouver Art Gallery. The transformation will allow visitors to step inside the film and enter “the Oasis,” showcasing the stage of Spielberg’s new movie. The exhibit takes place at the stackable housing apartments and will show off 25 ft. tall artwork, massive lights, and special effects, as well as actors dressed in the part of the movie. The inside of the exhibit will continue to amaze with eye-catching special effects, VR demos, a retro arcade, and chances to win film-related prizes.
What: The highly anticipated festival is celebrating equality with colours and UBC’s Indian Students Association wants you to be a part of it. Come to the event dressed in all white and be prepared to have a ton of fun. The event will feature an Indian food truck so you can enjoy the aromas and flavourful food on offer, and acclaimed Bollywood music maker, Khanvict from Decibel Entertainment will be spinning his favourite tracks throughout the day to celebrate Holi and keep you dancing.
What: “Let’s Hear It! Live – Vancouver” will showcase various artists from different music scenes across the province. The festival will take place in the North Plaza of the Vancouver Art Gallery, and includes The Funk Hunters, Desi Subculture, Peach Pit, MusiCounts StarBand with Dear Rouge, and many more acts.

What: The third annual 5km Run/Walk for all first responders and the community is in promotion of PTSD awareness. Partial funds raised will go towards the Honour House Society in recognition of their work with first responders and their families.
What: What’s better than a dog? Hundreds and hundreds of dogs. Biggest dog meet-up Vancouver is returning for a second event at Trout Lake Park. The event is hosted by Dogs of Vancity, so expect a lot of photos. If you have a furry friend who plays nice with others, bring them along and introduce them to other canines.
What: The event will feature over 80 shows that highlight the Fall and Winter collections of both national and international designers. This season’s line-up features brands from 15 different countries, including designers from Australia, Japan, the United States, Italy, Ghana, and of course – Canada.

What: The Cannery Farmers’ Market has products from local food producers and artisans who follow a “Make it, Bake it, Grow it, Catch it” philosophy. BC-produced vegetables, fruits, and meats are the central draw to this market. There is also entertainment and guided tours of the heritage site (pay by donation).

What: The Vancouver Women’s Library (VWL) presents an evening of food and entertainment, featuring an all-you-can-eat buffet dinner prepared by Tayybeh, a Syrian women’s collective of chefs. There will also be art and goods on silent auction, live entertainment on stage, and an intergenerational dance party.
What: The Vancouver Maritime Museum is bringing an exhibition that will examine one of the most troubling manifestations of racism in BC’s history. That event was the seizure of up to 1,200 Japanese fishing vessels in 1941 eventually lead into the internment of all Japanese-Canadians across the country. The exhibition will feature various photographs, replica documents, and artifacts.
