Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre – Official Opening

• What: Professor Santa J. Ono, President and Vice-Chancellor invites you to attend a ceremony to witness the official opening of the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre and a Statement of Apology for UBC’s involvement in the system that supported the operation of the Indian Residential Schools.

Humans of Maple Ridge

• What: The Maple Ridge Overdose Response Task Group has been working with a large group of peers in the community on the question “how has stigma affected you in your community?” Through the eyes of the peers and a camera lens, they will be presenting this work. Everyone is welcome to view the exhibit, meet some of the peers and share stories. Some mature subject matter will be included.

Whistler World Ski and Snowboard Festival

• What: The main events taking place on the mountain include the Saudan Couloir Ski Race Extreme, the Monster Energy Boarderstyle World Championships, and Big Air events in both skiing and snowboarding. A 72-hour filmmakers and photographer showdown will run during the course of the week. There will also be apres-ski and late-night parties held on a regular basis around the city, with live music constantly being played at the Skiers Plaza. A number of clubs around Whistler will also be holding evening events.

Jaden Smith

• What: Jaden Smith’s Vancity visit is part of his Vision Tour, supporting his 2017 album Syre. Also known for being the progeny of Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith, Smith has appeared in many films, including Men in Black II and The Karate Kid.
