Starlight Theatre at Lansdowne Centre – Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

  • What: The Drive-In Movie Series returns to Lansdowne Centre for its third year, presented by Fresh Air Cinema. Enjoy Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle on an outdoor screen. Take a drive and cuddle up, or bring a blanket and lawn chair and settle in. Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis (first 200 vehicles), and the movie audio will be broadcast over FM radio. Keep in mind that this is a family-friendly event, so smoking and alcohol are strictly prohibited.

Vintage Vacations Tea & Talk

  • What: Pack up your suitcase and take a trip down memory lane as you explore popular vacation spots and activities from the early 20th century. Explore artifacts, newspaper clippings, photographs and music from the Museum of Surrey. Tea, coffee and a light lunch is also included.

RCMP Musical Ride – Burnaby

  • What: A unique piece of Canadian showmanship with an evening packed with a variety of entertainment, activities and displays. The RCMP Musical Ride features intricate drills and choreography, including the famous “Dome” formation, which was once featured on the back of the Canadian fifty-dollar bill, to the exciting “Charge” movement, where lances are lowered and the riders’ mounts launch into a gallop. Proceeds from ticket sales will help support Cops for Cancer and KidSport Burnaby.

1st Hump Day Paella Party at Cabrito

  • What: The event will see the christening of the eatery’s brand new and gigantic paella pan, which was shipped all the way from the port city in Spain. Attendees can dine in or take it to go if they wish, but either way if you show you’ll be faced with a whole lot of seafood.

SummerFest – Pier Sweat Wednesdays with Lululemon

  • What: Lululemon leads free workout sessions to help you re-energize and rejuvenate after the busy workday. Each week the instructors will teach and guide you through a yoga session on the pier.

  • What: Starting in 1988, the Vancouver Queer Film Festival was founded by a non-profit called Out On Screen. It’s the largest queer media event in Western Canada and it screens over 75 films each year to an audience of over 14,000. This year it’s the event’s 30th birthday, so it’s sure to be special.

Summer Movie Nights on the Square – Mrs. Doubtfire

  • What: šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square (formerly Vancouver Art Gallery’s North Plaza) hosts Summer Movie Nights on the Square. Watch Mrs. Doubtfire on Fresh Air Cinema’s large, four-storey inflatable screen – just be sure to bring your lawn chairs and/or blankets.
  • When: Wednesday, August 15, 2018
  • Time: Activities begin at 5 pm, movie begins at sunset (check sunset times as that will be your best indication of when movies will start)
