What: In this intimate coming-of-age drama, a naive-adolescent named Elijah Berner succumbs to the harsh realities of attempting to recreate a moment he lost long ago through film. Themes ranging from mental illness and how one copes with regret, loneliness, love, and the difficulties of accepting a less-than-ideal society are just a taste of the many deep-cut themes that are explored in this second-original production by Midtwenties Theatre Society.

What: The BC Hospitality Foundation hosts its seventh annual Dish N Dazzle fundraiser at the Vancouver Convention Centre. This year’s event pays homage to the theme “Argentina: Breaking New Ground.” Argentinean wines will be paired with canapés from some of Vancouver’s top restaurants, including Cibo Trattoria, Joe Fortes, Edible Canada, and Mamie Taylors.

What: This national event is the top domestic tournament for sledge hockey athletes playing at the Provincial or Canadian Development Team level, and this year is the first time the competition is being played on home ice. Four teams – BC, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec – will be battling it out for gold, in 10 games over 3 days.

What: Seven of Vancouver’s master chocolatiers will go head-to-head on May 10 for the Gourmet Warehouse 6th annual Chocolate Challenge. The proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the Vancouver Firefighter Charities Snacks for Kids program, Project Chef, and the Strathcona Backpack Program.
