  • What: The Vancouver Alpen Club is hosting its annual Oktoberfest party throughout October, and everyone’s invited. This year, the club is working with three German breweries, Hofbraeuhaus Muenchen, Krombacher and Erdinger, to make sure your steins are kept filled. As well, there’ll be schnitzel, bratwurst, roasted pork hock, sauerkraut and authentic German potato salad, for sale, along with veggie and gluten-free options too. There will be also be performances by Schuhplattler dance group, the Alpen Plattlers, original German music, and traditional games.

Free pumpkins in downtown Vancouver from Evo

  • What: Evo will hand out 100 pumpkins to the first 100 members who join them at the Evo Pumpkin Patch found at both Robson Square and at the corner of Granville and Georgia in downtown Vancouver

Broken Social Scene

  • What: It’s going to be loud, it’s going to be new, and it may even be a little crowded onstage at the Commodore Ballroom when Broken Social Scene’s ensemble arrives to perform for their Vancouver fans. This will be the first time since 2011 that Broken Social Scene will be touring the West Coast, and they will be accompanied by Vancouver’s own The Belle Game. The band has also partnered up with MusiCounts, and will be donating $1 from every ticket sale towards putting an instrument in the hands of a child.

Halloween Howl Haunted House

  • What: The Hyde Away Youth Centre and youth of Port Coquitlam present a spooky Haunted House at Hyde Creek Recreation Centre.

Hip-Hop Karaoke

  • What: Other than the fact that it’s strictly Hip-Hop, there is one other notable difference between Hip-Hop Karaoke and others: there are no teleprompters. You’re rapping to a full house of people on the main stage of the club just like the many infamous rappers of past performances at Fortune.

  • What: The David Foster Foundation’s 30th Anniversary Miracle Concert will take over Rogers Arena in downtown Vancouver on Saturday, October 21, and it is promising a star-studded lineup of celebrities and artists. Celebrity guests include Oprah Winfrey, Goldie Hawn, and Dr. Phil McGraw while the performances, headlined by Canadian producer David Foster, will feature Steven Tyler, Carly Rae Jepsen, Jay Leno, Robin Thicke, The Tenors, Matteo Bocelli, and Laura Bretan.
