Vancouver Mural Festival 2017

  • What: Vancouver is about to get a whole lot more colourful as 60 new street art murals, from 60 different artists, will adorn buildings to kick off the city’s largest public art celebration, Vancouver Mural Festival. Presented by Create Vancouver Society, the second annual event will take over the city from August 7 to 12 and will feature more than just great art. Expect to soak in some music, devour delicious food, and even support local makers at a market.

BC Day Long Weekend at Burnaby Village Museum

  • What: Come celebrate BC Day at the Burnaby Village Museum! Plus it’s another Market Monday.
  • When: August 7
  • Time: 11 am
  • Where: Burnaby Village Museum – 6501 Deer Lake Ave, Burnaby
  • Cost: Free admission, carousel rides are $2.65 each.

Nature Walk Damsels and Dragons Inhabitants of the Pond

  • What: Explore the wonderful world of damselflies, dragonflies, and other fascinating inhabitants of the Nature House Pond. Have you seen a dasher, a dauber, or water scorpion? What is a water flea? Join veteran naturalist Al Grass, formerly with BC Parks, for an exciting time.

Solar Eclipse Family Weekend

  • What: In advance of the solar eclipse happening August 21, H.R. MacMillan Space Centre is hosting special activities to help you get prepared. Try your hand at solar eclipse painting and make your very own spectroscope to discover what suns are made of. Plus, they have solar eclipse glasses available by donation to get you set for the big day.

VMF 2017 – Thrive Talks

  • What: The THRIVE Talks is a celebration of female street artists and muralists. Are you curious about the artists creating murals for Vancouver Mural Fest? 2SQTILGBIPoC Pride Celebration

  • What: As the centrepiece of the year-long Canada on Screen program, The Cinematheque celebrates Canada Day and Canada’s 150th birthday with a week of free screenings, featuring many of Canada’s greatest film (and television) works, from Anne of Green Gables to Jesus Of Montreal.

Holiday Family Fun – BC Day at Sunset Community Centre
