What: This annual convention brings everything gluten free together for two days of learning, cooking, sampling, and buying with some amazing discounts. There will be more than 500 products to try – everything from beer and pizza to breads and perogies. And many of these products aren’t just gluten-free, a ton are also allergen-free, dairy-free, low-FODMAP, and diabetic-friendly.

What: High-level figure skating is coming to Vancouver next week, with lots on the line. One month before the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, the Canadian National Skating Championships lands on the West Coast for the first time in 10 years. The week-long event will feature a number of world class skaters, including nine athletes who won an Olympic medal in Sochi four years ago.

What: See life in the trenches of World War I through the eyes of German Typographer, Rudolf Koch. This exhibition will feature sketches of everyday life in the trenches, on loan from the Klingspor Museum in Offenbach, Germany.

What: The fourth annual BC Sport Leadership Conference is an excellent opportunity to learn about leadership from athletes from all walks of life, as well as network with likeminded people. What: Solo Flamenco presents flamenco in its purest traditional form, the cuadro. A cuadro is a flamenco group that includes a dancer, guitarist, singer and percussionist. With Artist-in-Residence Kasandra La China (dancer), Davide Sampaolo (cajon, percussionist), Jake Lee “Chinito” (guitarist) and Stephanie Pedraza (singer).

What: North Vancouver artist Steve Baylis combines a range of unique influences with his own driven spiritual inquiry. Inspired by principles of theoretical physics, the Unified Field Theory in particular, his bold and intricate paintings both draw viewers in to investigate their rich details and send them back to consider the works as a whole.

What: The Canadian Iranian Foundation presents clinical counsellors Poran Poreghbal and Ali Khodami, as well as family counsellor Haleh Shirchian, who will be talking about all aspects of abuse. In this workshop attendees will learn about different kinds of abuse, who is the abuser, why do they become abusers and what support systems are available for the person being abused.

What: Looking to get fit and save some money in 2018? Why not skip the gym and try a new activity like street kickboxing or spin class? UBC is offering a jam-packed schedule of workout classes to returning students, staff, faculty, and the general public for no cost. There is no registration needed to participate. All you have to do is show up at the location of your classes 10 minutes before the scheduled start time. Classes will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis with priority given to those who have registered for the full program.
