Murakami’s Birthday Bash After Party

  • What: The Vancouver Art Gallery presents Canada’s first-ever retrospective of international art icon, Takashi Murakami. The collection is set to feature more than 55 works of art, from Murakami’s earliest paintings to his recent large-scale projects, including a newly-created five-metre-tall sculpture, as well as two multi-panel paintings created especially for the Vancouver exhibition. To celebrate the opening of Murakami’s first retrospective in the country, and also the artist’s birthday, the Vancouver Art Gallery will be hosting a Birthday Bash for the artist.

Spokaoke

  • What: In one of the most experimental shows at PuSh this year, artist Annie Dorsen puts together a participatory event inspired by karaoke and famous historical speeches. Instead of singing popular songs, participants will get to perform classic speeches made by the likes of Ronald Reagan and Socrates.

Our Mortal Coil

  • What: Distress Signal is a sketch comedy troupe made up of published writers, professional actors, dexterous artists, and disgruntled philosophers. Our Mortal Coil is the troupe’s debut show.

Neüterhead: Ace Of Spays

  • What: Neüterhead: Ace of Spays is a registered non-profit organization that uses rock ‘n’ roll to raise funds to help responsible pet rescue groups cover the costs of spaying and neutering. The fourth annual fundraiser features members of 3 Inches Of Blood, Bison, and more.

Uh Oh! A YTV Burlesque Show

Hot Chocolate Festival

  • What: Back for another year, chocoholics will love this cocoa-fuelled festival, which features an unbelievable array of exotic and specialty hot chocolates. You have 22 days to try all 35 of the participating ‘chocstars’ at this year’s fest, all of which are local purveyors.
