Pop-Up Comedy Jam: Asian Heritage Month Edition!

  • What: In honour of national Asian Heritage Month in Vancouver, The Fictionals present an all-star, all-Asian edition of Pop-Up Comedy Jam! Come enjoy comedy inspired by traditions and modern life, featuring VJ Delos-Reyes, Carla Mah, Curt Da Silva, Kia Rae, Travis Bernhardt, Laurence Chong, San Aung and Ed Hill.

  • When: May 2 at 8 pm
  • Tickets: At the door, $7 or $5 for students

  • What: Miranda Sings presents a hilarious night filled with comedy, hit songs, magic tricks, dramatic readings of hate mail, and never before seen videos. The quirky superstar has over a billion views on YouTube and has performed her one-woman show to sold-out crowds all over the world.

The Lady Show: May Edition

  • What: The comedy show that puts the “joy” in “Feminist Killjoy”. The Lady Show is a night of sketch, stand-up, monologues, storytelling and general comedy nonsense. May’s special guests are Catherine Falkner and Marylee Stephenson.

  • What: Comedian and actor Harland Williams is known for his roles in Dumb and Dumber, Something about Mary, Half Baked, Rocketman, and more. His stand-up comedy has also been showcased on Letterman, The Tonight Show, Conan O’Brian, HBO, Comedy Central and everywhere else.

  • When: May 11 and 12 at 8 pm, May 13 at 7 pm and 9:30 pm

MOM=WOW – The ‘Mother of All Mother’s Day Shows’

  • What: Give the mothers and grandmothers in your life a good laugh (or several) with Vancouver TheatreSports League’s Mother’s Day Special. Featuring Gancia sparkling wines, and scenarios based on “Movie Moms”, “Momvolution” and more.
  • Where: The Improv Centre – 1502 Duranleau Street, Vancouver

Stephen Lynch: The My Old Heart Tour

  • What: Stephen Lynch’s unique blend of musical based comedy has earned him fiercely loyal fans around the world who live to experience his live shows, He has five best-selling CDs, an RIAA-certified Gold DVD and top-rated Comedy Central specials.
  • Where: The Rio Theatre – 1660 East Broadway, Vancouver
  • When: May 17 at 8 pm

Stage Time – Open Improv Jam

  • What: The producers of Lights! Improvised Sketch Comedy Show and Dirty Little Secrets Improv Show Vancouver – Dan Dumsha, Jamie Chrest and Sarah Dawn Pledge – are holding a night to showcase and see more talent. Performer names go in the jam jar, teams are selected and participants get a game and a scene with the hosts.

  • Admission: No cover – donations collected at the end. (Suggested $5)

Bianca Del Rio: Not Today Satan Comedy Show

  • What: Season 6 winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race, self-professed “clown in a gown”, Bianca Del Rio continues her world-wide stand-up comedy tour, Not Today Satan, for a second round across North America.
  • Where: The Vogue Theatre – 918 Granville Street, Vancouver
  • When: May 19 at 8 pm

  • What: With the recent release of her Netflix Special, Ali Wong: Baby Cobra, Ali became the first comedian to record a stand up special while seven months pregnant. Ali co-stars in the new ABC comedy American Housewife, premiering this fall.
  • Where: Vogue Theatre – 1918 Granville Street, Vancouver
  • When: May 25 to 27 at 7 pm and 9:30 pm

The Canada Show: The Complete History of Canada

  • What: Three comedic historians – one First Nations actor, one female actor and one Francophone actor – try to jam 15,000 years of Canadian history into just one hour. Featuring Justin Beaver, the comedy team of Cabot and Costello, Jacques Cartier Puppets and every Canadian Prime Minister. The Canada Show is updated with new material and promises inclusivity and diversity to go along with its irreverence and hilarity.
