Vancouver Cheap Eats: The best of Vancouver's holiday events

‘Tis the season for candy canes, ugly sweaters and indulging in delicious eats. Luckily, from the Vancouver Christmas Market to the VanDusen Festival of Lights, Vancouverites have no shortage of holiday events to keep their tastebuds satisfied.

For just $10, enjoy six perogies topped with grilled onion, farmer sausage bits, sour cream and sauerkraut at Perogies Haus, or try newcomer, Das Gulasch Has’s Vegan Potato Stew with bread. Ringing in at $9, the stew includes carrots, potatoes and a mouthwatering blend of Hungarian and smoky Spanish paprika.

Bright Nights Christmas Train in Stanley Park

Keep warm with hot chocolate and apple cider and stay full with a $4.75 Jumbo Hotdog or Deluxe Cheese Hamburger for $6.25. Everyone’s favourite Mini Donuts will also be available for $4.95, and if you ask us, they’re as acceptable a meal as any.

Enchant Christmas Light Maze & Market

Stick to your budget at The Chickpea Experience and order the $8 Kasum Pita (crispy fried cauliflower, sautéed turmeric covered mushrooms and onions, served with a hard-boiled egg) or visit Melt City to scarf down a Melt City Classic (Asiago, Monterey Jack and Havarti melted on your choice of freshly baked bread) for just $8.
