Vancouver-based PR company Brix Media Co has been acquired by Canadian media relations giant Talk Shop Media.

In a release, Brix founder and CEO Jennifer Maloney Adab said the acquisition was about merging old and new forms of PR.

“The vision for Brix has been centred in designing brand engagement strategies that challenge industry norms and can be deployed across the evolving channels of traditional and digital PR,” said Maloney Adab.

“Talk Shop Media has the infrastructure, leadership, resources, and talent, to propel this vision forward.”

Maloney Adab and managing partner Nadia Gillies only launched Brix launched two years ago, but it has quickly gained market share via brand activations and experiential PR.

Brix’s clients include Equinox, SoulCycle, Herschel, Rolex, PayPal’s TIO Networks, and management consulting services company ACL.

Talk Shop co-founder Beth Boyle said the two companies have different skillsets and backgrounds.

“But [we] share similar cultures and views on how to best approach brands, PR, and digital communication challenges – and most importantly growth,” Boyle said.

Under the new acquisition, Gillies will stay on as managing partner at Brix Media and join the Talk Shop office, along with staff.

Final integration plans for Brix Media Co at Talk Shop Media are not yet available. The official brand unveiling will be in spring 2018.
