Last year Vancouver Anime Evolution took place at the new convention centre. This year the 2010 Anime Evolution convention will take place at UBC. Make no mistake this is one of Vancouver’s prime Asian pop culture events where both audiences and industry get to interact in a totally informal setting. The 3 day convention (Aug 13 to 15th) is expected to draw 6000 attendees!
The convention brings together art, animation, comic books, video games, film and music in a celebration of Asian pop culture. However, you will be surprised to know that there will be a lot of white folk at the convention too! It will be a diverse crowd attending.
The convention also aims to highlight Vancouver’s local creative talent and also from the rest of the great white north.
Not that I need to remind anime convention attendees but cosplay (costume play) is highly encouraged. This is where attendees dress up as their favourite video game, comic book or anime characters.
