Burlesque Duos

  • What: Following last year’s sold out show, the highly-anticipated Burlesque Duos returns to the Rio’s stage on Tuesday, February 14. Elle

  • What: Elle is the story of Marguerite de La Rocque de Roberval, a French noblewoman who set out in 1542 for Canada with her uncle, Jacques Cartier to colonize the new-found country. Adapted from Douglas Glover’s novel by Severn Thompson,  Elle reinvents the beginnings of this country’s national narrative.

Gastown Cabaret – Babes for Days

  • What: Three entertaining sets of belly dances, stunts, hilariousness, and more. Plus a Donut Eating Competition and a Lip Synch Battle

The 17th Annual People’s Prom

  • What: The prom you never had in high school: it’s a radical, community-oriented, anti-capitalist, queer, cross-dressing, gender bending, bike loving, slow dancing, big dress wearing, good time. A fundraiser for creative resistance and direct action in BC.

Throwdown International TheatreSports Festival

  • What: Vancouver TheatreSports League rocks the laughs with their annual TheatreSports Festival, Throwdown (formerly called The Massacre). February 1 through 4 sees local teams compete in a round robin competition. Then international teams from Oslo, Mumbai, Orlando, Seattle and Montreal join the fray starting February 9, with the grande finale on Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day Snowshoe Fondue at Grouse Mountain

  • What: Peggy Sawyer, a starry-eyed young dancer, arrives in New York to pursue her Broadway dreams. When the leading lady can’t go on, the novice takes over and becomes a star. 42nd Street is considered to be a musical comedy classic, and features many recognizable Broadway standards including, of course, the titular title track.
