USA Hockey mistakenly tells 67-year old Vancouver man he made Olympic roster

Instead of telling Vancouver Canucks forward Ryan Kesler that he had made it to USA Hockey’s Olympic roster, a 67-year old Vancouver man was contacted and told he would represent the United States at Sochi 2014.

Team USA had texted each high-profile player’s number to let them know there would be a seat for them on the plane to Russia – so that they wouldn’t be caught off guard with the official announcement held at the Winter Classic.

However, instead of reaching Kesler they received a surprising reply that read: “I’m a 67 year old Canadian in Vancouver, [but] I’d be happy to play for you.” He continued on, texting “I think Canada would be even happier if I played for you.”

While Kesler made it to Team USA’s Olympic roster, he forgot to inform USA Hockey that he changed his number. The hilarious text message exchange was reported by TSN’s Gord Miller on Twitter:
