Uniqlo Vancouver Store Rumours

Whenever we post the latest retail news, there is always a cry from our readership about how they would love to see Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo come to Vancouver. Vancouverites want one and it may soon happen. According to Retail Insider and a few murmurs on Uniqlo is looking to expand into the Canadian market soon and they have their eyes on Vancouver and Toronto as initial prospects.

As of right now this is all rumours, however, seeing that the company plans on opening stores in select cities across the United States, a store or two in Canada isn’t out of the realm of possibility. Recently, Uniqlo announced that it will be opening a 29,000 square foot flagship location in San Francisco this Fall. This will be their second U.S. location.

From Retail Insider:

This is the first of literally hundreds of proposed Uniqlo locations across the United States. The chain is also planning a Canadian launch in early 2013, beginning with tentative locations in Toronto and Vancouver, BC.

If  Uniqlo were to open in Vancouver both Robson Street and Pacific Centre would be seen as ideal locations. Possibly at the base of the new office tower at Alberni & Thurlow across from Burberry as well. On Robson there is the current HMV spot rumoured to be Victoria’s Secret first Vancouver location. At 40,000 square feet that may be a good spot for Uniqlo. Then there is the new building at Robson and Granville, possibly a spot in the Sears building alongside the rumoured Nordstrom  and other retailers. Or a Uniqlo flaghsip could be built if the Pacific Centre expansion plans come to fruition.

The locations are there, the demand is there, now it’s time for Uniqlo to finally come to Vancouver. I think our readers will agree.
