And just like that, the UBC Thunderbirds have the best uniforms in the city.
The T-Birds, who usually wear UBC’s traditional colours of blue and gold, unveiled ‘blackout’ jerseys on Friday. The black and gold uniforms are the first third jerseys in the 93-year history of the team.
And they look badass.
The players seemed to love them too.
(Note: The lighting made the yellow numbers appear orange)
Unfortunately for UBC, the new look didn’t help them on the football field. The T-Birds (3-2) lost 31-17 to the Canada West leading Calgary Dinos (5-0) in front ofĀ 2,985 fans at Thunderbird Stadium.
UBC’s next two games are on the road against Saskatchewan and Manitoba, before returning home to play Regina on October 28.
