On Tuesday, some UBC students and faculty were stunned to see the infamous Engineers “E” block covered with a heartfelt message to the missing passengers of Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.

It’s unknown who created the piece.

A total of 239 passengers, including crew, have been missing for almost six days after the flight lost contact between its route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. The incident has spurred a massive multinational search effort to locate the whereabouts of the Boeing 777 plane.

Officials are not ruling out any causes to the disappearance, which include the possibilities that the plane suffered a major malfunction mid-air and disintegrated or that foul play was a factor. Radar contact with the plane was lost just after it entered waters.
