Here's what Trevor Linden has been up to since leaving the Canucks (PHOTOS)

Trevor Linden’s departure from the Vancouver Canucks caught most people by surprise.

A late-July media release announced that he and the team had ‘amicably agreed to part ways,’ though not many people still believe it was indeed amicable.

Both Linden and owner Francesco Aquilini each spoke publicly in the last week for the first time since the breakup. Neither one of them revealed much.

“I really felt that in my role as the president of the Canucks that I was representing the Canucks fans of BC and it was just an awesome thing to do and I loved every minute of it,” Linden said in an interview with Sportsnet 650. “Having said that, you look forward to the future.”

Whatever the reason for Linden’s departure, Canucks fans are sure to be interested in his future. For now, at least, that doesn’t appear like it will involve the game of hockey.

Perhaps we’ll see him back at Rogers Arena for the Sedins’ jersey retirement next season (it will be telling if he’s not in attendance), but until then, he’s spending his time exclusively off-ice.

For that, we turn to Instagram.

Linden stopped updating his account shortly after taking the job as president of the Canucks four years ago. Before this summer, his last post was of him doing the ALS ice bucket challenge.

So yeah, it’s been a while.

He and his wife Cristina are now the proud parents of a one-year-old boy, who they named after Mattias Ohlund.

An avid outdoorsman, the 48-year-old Canucks legend hasn’t let fatherhood stop him from doing the things he loves. And he’s bringing little Roman Mattias along for the ride.

It does appear that Linden left his boy at home for some of his more challenging tasks, like climbing mountains.

Linden certainly knows how to enjoy everything British Columbia has to offer. Here’s a peek at his hike to the summit of Mt. Matier, north of Pemberton, overlooking Joffre Lakes.

With an NHL job no longer getting in the way, Linden appears ready to act as a spokesman for his business ventures again. Club 16 Trevor Linden Fitness has been around for years, and he partnered with Orangetheory around the same time that he took the Canucks job.

In 2016, Linden and his business partner Chuck Lawson bought the Lower Mainland franchise rights for Orangetheory, which provides fitness classes. They currently have seven clubs open, with an eighth on the way.

Linden began a media blitz this week, going on radio and television with Orangetheory founder Ellen Latham.
