10 things to do in the Tri-Cities in September

September in Tri-Cities is full of fun events for everyone to enjoy, including Treefest, Terry Fox Hometown Run, and more. To get you started, here are 10 things to do around Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody this month.

Treefest 2017 

  • What: Enjoy guided tree tours, a heritage walk, history bus tours, a blackberry tea, entertainers, children’s activities, a food truck and an antique radio museum.

  • Where: Riverview Lands at the baseball field on Pine Terrace – 2601 Lougheed Highway, Coquitlam

Rochester Park Grand Opening

  • What:  Celebrate the official opening of the newly renovated Rochester Park. The official ceremony and ribbon cutting will be followed by playground games and light refreshments. New features include a zipline, accessible saucer swings, tunnel slide, climbing wall, sand play area and skate park. Enhanced trails and stairways, new sports fields and grassy areas for picnicking provide something for all ages.

A Walk in the Forest & Uplifted – Art Exhibition Opening Reception

  • What: New works by Sue Cowan and original work by Zoe Royer.  Artists in attendance and refreshments will be served.  Show runs September 5 through October 25.

Terry Fox Hometown Run

  • What: Help honour the legacy of hometown hero Terry Fox. Run, walk, wheel, roll or ride up to 10 km to support cancer research.

Crossroads Hospice Coffeehouse Presents Knudson & Connaughton

  • What: Caden Knudson and Aaron Connaughton are the accountant & trucker acoustic folk duo playing intricate fingerstyle guitar accompanied by driving double bass, tied together with smooth harmonies. Original rootsy bluesy songs about life and loneliness in the Fraser Valley, as well as dancing spiders. Prepare for an interesting new perspective on traditional styles of music.

Port Moody Oktoberfest

  • What: Port Moody Oktoberfest presents an authentic Bavarian Oktoberfest experience. Featuring original Munich Pork Hock, Schnitzel, Oktoberfest Bratwurst, Original “München Oktoberfest” beers, Paulaner, and Hacker-Pschorr. Plus giant Jenga, cornhole, balloons for families, hockey pucks, face painting and more.

Grand Opening of the Fraser Mills Station & Mackin House’s 108th Birthday Party

  • What: You’re invited on a tour of Mackin House and the Fraser Mills Train Station. Stay for the crafts, free snacks and more. Check out the quilt project featuring drawings created by the children and youth of Coquitlam, and don’t miss your chance to enter a draw for an afternoon of tea and scones in the Parlour.
