The last day of July has arrived. Say so long to a beautiful month with one of our seven things to do around Vancouver, including Vancouver Pride Week, Harry Potter Burlesque and more.

Vancouver Pride Week

  • What: Vancouver Pride Week begins on Monday, July 31 and features panel discussions, the Davie Street Party, boat cruises, club nights and more. Festivities climax with the Vancouver Pride Parade and Festival on Sunday, August 6.

Old Crow Comedy Sho. v3

  • What: Megan Milton and friends perform at New West’s newest comedy show. Featuring headliner Yumi Nagashima, Madison Cassady, Anjie Mittelholtz, Shawn Lawrence, Matty Vu, Oli Maughan, Leah and Her Basson, and music from Paul Fenz.

Blues and BBQ at Rusty Rail BBQ and Grill at Grouse Mountain

  • What: Every Monday night in July and August, head to Grouse Mountain at the Rusty Rail mountaintop patio to take in the smoky barbecue and the groove of blues all while enjoying the spectacular sunset views and a chill vibe brought to you by live music courtesy of artists like Wes Mackey, Brandon Issak, and Harris & Debray.

Healthy Soil for a Great Garden

  • What: In this Village Vancouver workshop with Rhiannon Johnson, you’ll learn how to build your soil for a healthy, vibrant veggie garden. Bring a 1L clear container with a lid at least half full of your garden soil for some simple tests to learn specifically about your garden’s soil. You will also learn about composting tailored to your space, and how it can supplement your garden’s health.

In-Store Clinic with FRESH KILS & DJ Vekked

  • What: As part of their barnstorming summer tour, finger-drummer extraordinaire Fresh Kils and 2015 World DMC Champion Vekked will be hosting an in-store production and DJ clinic at Long & McQuade. Fresh Kils will be demonstrating his creative approach to chopping samples, building beats, and taking his tracks to the stage using the new MPC Live. For the DJs, Vekked will show you how to get your mix and scratch game right using the RaneSixty-Two mixer and Denon DJ VL12 Prime turntables.

Harry Potter’s Burlesque Birthday Party

  • What: Join other wizarding folks to celebrate the Chosen One’s birthday in a burlesque style at the Rio Theatre. The organizers have promised a silly, sexy evening filled with all your favourite Harry Potter characters.

Summer Tap Show at Kitsilano Showboat

  • What: West Coast Tap Dance Collective perform at Kitsilano Showboat. Their 45 minute set features local tap talent, and everyone is invited to Shim Sham at the end of their set.
