From photography to dancing, there’s no shortage of things to do. Here are five things to do in Vancouver on Thursday, August 4.

Mixology Night on the Pier

  • What: This terrific new fundraising event will showcase Vancouver’s top bartenders and the growing cocktail culture. The evening will feature an exciting pop up beach lounge, a cocktail competition, catered food, and great music.
  • Where: Ambleside Pier (foot of 14th Street in West Vancouver)
  • When: Thursday, August 4, from 8 to 10 pm
  • Price: Available online, $105 per person; the goal is to sell 250 tickets and raise $15,000 for local art programs

Fin De Fiesta Flamenco

  • What: Fin De Fiesta Flamenco presents Audacia, a bold new show full of ancient rhythms and avant-garde ideas that will leave you breathless, with the pulsing rhythms of flamenco beating in your heart.
  • Where: The Dance Centre – 677 Davie Street, Vancouver
  • When: Thursday, August 4, from 8 to 10 pm
  • Price: On Eventbrite, $30 full price, or $26 for students

Hot Summer Nights

  • What: A casual, free weekly bike ride, ending at a different Vancouver eatery each week. All rides will last about 30 minutes, be family friendly, and relaxed. All skill levels are welcome. This week’s ride ends at Tacos Catrina at English Bay.
  • Where: West Point Cycles – 215 East 2nd Ave, Vancouver
  • When: Every Thursday in August, starting August 4, check-in from 5:45 to 6:25 pm, ride starts 6:30 pm
  • Register: On Eventbrite, totally free

Night Photography & Light Painting

  • What: A photo tour focusing on practising low light and night photography techniques around Granville Island. Topics covered include tripods, ISO, white balance, starbursts and sparklers.
  • Where: Meet outside Arts Club Backstage Lounge –  1585 Johnston Street, Vancouver
  • When: Thursday, August 4, at 8 pm
  • Tickets: On Eventbrite, $65

Free yoga at Dude Chilling Park

  • What: Get out your yoga mats and put away your wallets, free yoga is back for another year! Two sessions, twice a day, seven days a week. All abilities welcome.
  • Where: Dude Chilling Park – 2390 Brunswick Street, Vancouver
  • When: Now until fall; from 10 to 11:15 am and 6 to 7:15 pm
