The Zone Bowling Centre in Richmond permanently closes after 19 years

After years of landlord-tenant disputes, the Zone Bowling Centre at Richmond’s Riverport Entertainment Centre has closed its doors for the last time.

The announcement was made on the bowling alley’s Facebook page earlier this month.

“It is with great sadness that we let you know that after 19 years of serving the area, the Zone Bowling Centre has closed its doors,” reads the post. “Unfortunately we have reached an impasse with our landlord that will prevent us from continuing in our business.”

“It has been our pleasure to serve you over these many years.”

The Zone Bowling Centre was often late in paying rent over a period of 10 years, leading to legal action by the landlord. In October 2014, the landlords provided the Zone with a notice of lease termination that stated they needed to be out by November. The owners of the bowling alley disputed it, but the judge ruled in favour of the landlords in April 2015. It briefly closed in the summer of 2015 before reopening again.
