The Rise of Brent Hayden: From Mission, BC to the Olympic podium (VIDEO)

Nov 5 2018, 1:04 pm

Three-time Canadian Olympic swimmer Brent Hayden stopped by The Rise set to chat with hosts Ryan Sullivan and Jay DeMerit this week.

Brent talked to us about his journey from his childhood all the way to the podium. His overall message couldn’t have been clearer in how he learned from every single stroke, meet and loss.

He is a huge advocate for finding that silver lining in every loss along the way so that you can build yourself up even better for the next fight. Speaking of which, he also took us behind the scenes at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens. It was so traumatic that it had him contemplating quitting the sport on his return to Canada.

His perseverance kept him in the race though and his desire to compete, grow stronger and win shone through like you wouldn’t believe. His story didn’t end after his final Olympic medal though. In fact, he and his wife continue supporting the sport and aspiring Olympians through their new clothing line Astra Athletica.
