If you’ve been downtown lately, chances are you’ve been near it, maybe even walked past it. Unassuming by design and created to inspire a truly Vancouver vibe, The Harrow Eatery & Bar is a welcome addition to the downtown Vancouver scene.
Just a short walk off Robson Street, on the corner of Thurlow and Haro, this venue has been remodeled and renewed to give a great vibe that reflects the Canadian zest for life and passion for sports.
“Vancouver is a great city, and living internationally, Vancouver probably has the friendliest and most welcoming people I’ve ever met,” said owner Sayed Tejani. “Not only is there a great sense of lifestyle but where else in the world can you have the beauty of mountains, beaches, and the greenery all in one city.”
Tejani is a transplant to Vancouver, but from his early days living in the city and working with a property management firm in a senior position, he felt there was something missing—something that truly reflected the Vancouver lifestyle.
“I needed a change and something I could challenge myself with. With a growing interest in the food and hospitality industry, living in the neighborhood I realized the lack of a casual, local spot for friends to just hang out. With Vancouver being full of franchised locations, there was a need for something different so when I saw the opportunity at this location I saw its potential, so I jumped on it.”
Open from noon daily for lunch, it offers well-prepared food and a good selection of drinks at affordable prices. Their Happy Hour, from 3 to 6 p.m., includes $4 draft pints of Granville Island, Creemore Springs and Hops & Bolts Beer, $3 Wine, $3 Highballs and a $5 Food Menu. Their Daily Specials and great deals include appetizers, burgers, pizzas, as well as Mojito Mondays, Bellini Tuesdays, Martini Wednesdays and Draft Beer Thursdays. Then on Fridays and Saturdays, their highball specials are $3.50 singles, $4.95 doubles and $18 for five bottles of Molson Canadian. They even have Caesars and Mimosas on special on Sunday, the perfect hangover recipe.
“Apparently, this corner is known for being ‘cursed’ in the hospitality industry as several other restaurants have opened and not succeeded. Sometimes it’s about community, with the potential for a local bar to become a regular hangout spot.”
The Harrow features a big screen HD Projector and several HD TVs showing all major Canucks games, NFL games, MLS, CFL, UFC and Boxing Events. Pop-in on a game night and you will hear fans cheering for their favourite teams.
“Why make it complicated and not give people what they love. We pride ourselves on quality food and drinks at unbeatable prices in Downtown Vancouver.”
The friendly staff is eager to ensure that all is well and add vibrancy to the ambience. As its motto reflects, it’s a great place to relax, dine, drink and laugh the night away.
