Thai House is an award-winning restaurant with three locations in the Greater Vancouver area. As a participant in Dine Out Vancouver, their Kitsilano location has come up with a great $18 menu perfect for both a Thai food aficionado or a newcomer.

Seafood fans will love Thai House’s Shrimp Kra Ta (Shrimp Potter) as a starter, which is deep-fried with a hint of spice. Follow that dish with their Talay Pad Prink Gra Prao (Mixed Seafood), a lovely stir-fry with prawns, squid and scallop, along with some seasonal vegetables. Other options include Pah Teak Gai (a hot and sour soup with chicken and lemongrass) or the Keany Pa Gai (a boneless chicken red curry).

Three choices are available for dessert, and they are all fan favourites. The Sweet Sticky Rice with jackfruit is a crowd-pleaser, and the Tapioca Pudding is comfort in a bowl. But the most popular is probably the Deep Fried Banana with Mango Ice Cream…a perfect way to end your meal. And if you visit on Friday and Saturday, you’ll enjoy a traditional Thai dance show as well. The performers are trained in classical Thai dance and are a highlight to any meal.

Those working downtown may be familiar with Pink Elephant Thai on Alberni, with their super popular $10 lunches. For this year’s Dine Out, they have come up with a great three-course menu. Appetizer choices include Prawn Satay, Spicy Tofu, as well as a Deep Fried Squid, all accompanied by their Tom Kah Soup with Chicken. Of the three entree choices, two are perfect for seafood lovers: Choo Chee Salmon and Seared Scallops. Meat lovers will want to give their Pineapple Braised Short Rib a try; it melts in your mouth. No dinner would be complete without dessert, so treat your taste buds to either their Coconut Jelly or their Thai Tea Ice Cream, both great ways to end a meal.

Find yourself in Yaletown and craving Thai? Set yourself up with the Dine Out Vancouver menu from Urban Thai. One interesting appetizer is their Fried Fresh Tofu with a peanut sauce, or give the Lemon Grass Chicken Salad a try. For entrees, you can’t go wrong with the Tiger Prawns & Scallop in Green Curry, served loaded with veggies and Coconut Milk Rice on the side. And on Saturdays, be prepared to be entertained by traditional Thai dancers. Their moves are amazing and the costumes are truly unique.
