Montreal duo Paris & Simo have been taking the EDM world by storm, recently opening for David Guetta on his Canadian tour, and playing alongside Deadmau5, Sander Van Doorn and Sebastian Ingrosso -to name a few. The 22-year-old duo headlined Playhouse Saturdays at Celebrities Nightclub this past weekend, the day after their massive David Guetta Calgary set.

“It was crazy,” Paris said, describing what it was like to open for David Guetta. “Four thousand strong. [We were] a bit nervous because there were so many people, but honestly, we got such amazing reactions.” And it seems that the Guetta tour is just the beginning for these two’s summer line up.

After meeting at a sweet sixteen party where Paris was DJing in Montreal, and winning a local DJ competition, the duo began producing roughly five years ago. Both were in school at the time, and the one party changed both their lives. “I wasn’t supposed to go actually, it’s funny I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for that one night,” said Simo. “We had no connection between each other. He was just playing music I actually knew. I approached him and then we met up a few times.” The rest, they say, is history.

Paris & Simo’s set is diverse, and reflects their taste in music. They have achieved their success through remixes and original tracks that represent their musical background. “It’s always nice to listen to different music,” Simo said, adding that some of their influences recently have been Swedish DJ Axwell and Daft Punk. “We have so much music we’ve been preparing, we’re ready to put it out,” Paris said, “Our track Silent (with vocals by Gabrielle Ross) is coming out soon.” The duo, associated with progressive chart topping tunes like Escape and Tundra, are also currently working with Rico and Miella for their upcoming track Get Back.

Among their new music production and releases are several major tour dates, including their stop in Vancouver. “Honestly, this is one of my favourite cities. The first time we came here, I didn’t know what to expect. The city is beautiful, and Celebrities is such a great club. We are really happy to be back,” Paris said. From here, the Montrealers are off to a massive festival date in Ecuador, playing with Cedric Gervais at Life in Colour. They are on tour in Asia and India this fall.
