Today, Sept. 8th, 2012, TELUS and the CFL will officially unveil the TELUS Penny Press that will be used to create The Fan Cup presented by TELUS, the first ever fan cup trophy honouring the game’s fans.

Cast from the copper of the Canadian penny, The Fan Cup will be engraved with the names of thousands of CFL fans from across the country and live inside The Canadian Football Hall of Fame as a symbol of appreciation for over 100 years of loyal fan support. Fans will create The Fan Cup trophy during The Grey Cup 100 Tour by using a custom-built TELUS penny press to make their own 100th Grey Cup Game collectable out of a real Canadian penny.

Each fan that presses a penny using the TELUS Penny Press will have their name etched into The Fan Cup. TELUS will collect a small piece of each penny and create The Fan Cup presented by TELUS from each of them. This year the Grey Cup 100 Tour will make 100 stops across Canada – with Vancouver being the first – giving fans the chance to experience a piece of the CFL first-hand.

You are invited to come and witness the first official penny press pull with CFL Commisioner Mark Cohon, CFL Hall of Famer, Canadian Sports Hall of Famer and B.C. Lion legend Lui Passaglia, TELUS CFO Bob McFarlane, and a local KidSport Canada Ambassador who will be one of the first fans to make their mark on The Fan Cup presented by TELUS. TELUS and CFL representatives will be available for comment after the first official penny press pull.
