Tea that tastes like coffee introduced at Artisan Tea Bar

DH Vancouver Staff Jul 31, 2014 7:55 am

The Cha Cha Frappe from Artisan Tea Bar looks and tastes like coffee but is actually made from an organic Japanese green tea.

This concoction is one of the newest crazy summer smoothies from Artisan Tea Bar mixologist Phong Vo whose goal is to show that tea can be fun and delicious.

He also admits the Cha Cha Frappe was an accidental discovery but decided to run with it believing the roasted coffee-like aroma would appeal to a broader audience.

“It has all the benefits of tea and the familiarness of coffee, it’s the perfect summer cool down drink,” said Phong. “It’s now one of the most popular choices on our menu.”

The tea bar recently opened in the Fraserhood (hipster coined term for the northern part of Fraser Street). Artisan’s fresh approach on tea enjoyment focuses on tastes and a more relaxed attitude towards a beverage too often thought of as confined to a hot cup.
