Canadian Tatiana Maslany wins best actress at Emmy Awards

Sep 19 2016, 7:43 pm

At last night’s Emmy Awards, Tatiana Maslany stepped onto the stage for the first time as a winner.

And if you’ve ever seen Orphan Black, you know how much she deserved it.

A lot of other things happened at the biggest night in television as well, of course. Jimmy Kimmel made some inappropriate jokes, Matt LeBlanc was creepy, Game of Thrones dominated (picking up 12 wins this year), O.J. Simpson had a great run, Julia Louis-Dreyfus promised to build a wall, and diversity was seen and celebrated the whole night through.

Nothing like a room full of stars patting themselves on the back to make you feel all warm and cozy inside.

But seriously, congratulations to Tatiana Maslany for an award well earned. To win the Emmy for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series the Canadian had to beat out the likes of Claire Danes, Viola Davis, Taraji P. Henson, Keri Russell, and Robin Wright.

If you can stand out in that lineup, you’ve truly done something special.

You can see the full list of the night’s winners below:
