Suspicious death in Surrey prompts murder investigation

Jan 9 2018, 6:12 am

Homicide police say foul play is suspected, after the death of an unidentified man in the 17800-block of 64 Avenue, Surrey on Sunday.

According to a release, Surrey RCMP received a report of “a suspicious circumstance” at about 12:30 am and found a man unresponsive in a nearby home.

Emergency Health Services were called, say police, but despite best efforts, the man could not be revived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The cause of death was not clear but foul play is suspected,” said the release. “An autopsy is required to determine the male victim’s cause of death.

“Until more facts are established, the risk to the public, if any, remains unknown.”

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is working closely with the Surrey RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Section, and the BC Coroners Service on the case.

Investigators are working to confirm the identity of the man, and locate and notify his next of kin.
