Richmond RCMP have made an arrest following yesterday morning’s Richmond arson that claimed the life of one individual.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. at a residence on the 10000 block of Cornerbrook Crescent, near Williams Road and Railway Avenue.

When firefighters arrived to the scene, the structure was fully engulfed in flames. A 13-year-old boy was rushed to hospital with critical injuries while the body of a 66-year-old woman, later identified as Elaine Leznoff, was discovered inside the burnt house.

Metro Vancouver’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is taking the lead in the case. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
