Hundreds of thousands flocked to Surrey on Saturday for the annual Vaisakhi parade.
Over 400,000 people attended this year’s event, making it one of the biggest celebrations outside of India. Last year, over 350,000 people turned out for the Surrey parade.
The parade commemorates the birth or establishment of Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the 10th Sikh Guru, in 1699.
Khalsa – meaning pure – refers to the baptism ceremony all Sikhs are expected to go through as part of their own personal spiritual evolution.
Surrey’s streets were filled with colour, Punjabi music, and amazing food.
