Nov 22 2016, 3:17 am

Surrey RCMP have arrested nine people after shots were fired between two cars in the parking lot of a hotel in South Surrey.

According to a release, police responded to reports of a shooting in the 1100 block of King George Boulevard at about 3:10 am on Monday.

At the scene, officers found shell casings and arrested a number of people they believe to be connected with the shooting.

Only one person was injured, say police, after being hit by breaking glass fragments.

Police believe that shots were fired between two cars after some sort of fight broke out in the parking lot.

They say two vehicles were seen fleeing. One was found shortly after; police said the other car may have been found, but they could not yet confirm this.

According to the release, police believe the shooting was targeted and everyone involved knew each other.

Officers are carrying out neighbourhood canvassing and speaking with several witnesses to get more information.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or solvecrime.ca.
