A man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the homicide of his wife, Anida Magaya.

On October 5, 2018, at about 1:51 am, emergency services received a report of an injured female at a residence in the 16100-block of 110 Avenue in Surrey, BC.

When police arrived, they found 42-year-old Anida Magaya dead inside the home with injuries consistent with homicide. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called in to take over the investigation.

Detectives said they have determined that this was an isolated incident and there was no risk to public safety.

Since the initial deployment, IHIT and its partners have diligently collected and compiled all the evidence for charge approval consideration to crown counsel.

On October 19, 2018, Anida Magaya’s 44-year-old husband, Rizig Bona, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder for her death.

Bona will appear before a judge in BC Provincial Court on October 22, 2018.

“This was a tragic isolated incident involving members of the same family and our deepest condolences go out to the family of Anida Magaya,” said IHIT Cpl. Frank Jang.

Anyone with information, who has yet to come forward to police, is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT
