Sep 11 2017, 11:01 am

This was beyond a rude awakening. A stretched limousine barrelled through the front of a home in Surrey during the early morning hours of Sunday, frightening a family and leaving them without a home for the foreseeable future.

According to Surrey RCMP, the vehicle crashed into the home on the corner of 144 Street and 74A Avenue just after 3 am.

Investigators are determining the cause of the crash, which has left the family without a home as the structure has been deemed unsafe. The property sustained serious structural damage from the crash.

Police are working with technical experts to determine the best way to remove the vehicle, as its removal could cause the home to collapse.

The limousine’s driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

It has yet to be determined whether alcohol, drugs, and/or a mechanical failure contributed to the cause of the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the limousine in the area prior to the crash this morning is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
