A man is in hospital in serious condition following a drive-by shooting in Surrey on Sunday night.

At around 8:30 in the evening, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the intersection of 142nd Street and 64th Avenue in Newton. A man was sent to hospital with serious gunshot wounds, and police secured both the intersection and the hospital.

Witnesses report seeing a dark-coloured SUV firing shots into another vehicle. Officers canvassed the neighbourhood and spoke with witnesses to gather information, and while the investigation is in early stages, it’s believed it was a targeted shooting.

Anyone with further information who has not already spoken to police is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or, if they wish to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca.
