Surrey RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man believed to be involved with what police are calling a suspicious car fire last week.

On Monday, February 13, at about 2:45 pm, police were called to a vehicle fire in the 13200 block of 98th Avenue.

Upon their arrival, they found a 2015 Dodge Charger fully engulfed in flames.

The fire was put out by the Surrey Fire Department, and inquires were conducted with the car’s owner, his family, and with neighbours.

Police said surveillance video showing a man pouring liquid – believed to be fire accelerant – on the car before setting it ablaze, was found as well.

The suspect, who is described as having a medium build and being between 5’8 and 5’10 tall, fled the scene on foot.

He was wearing a dark hoodie with dark track pants which had two white stripes down the legs at the time of the incident.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, seen the person involved, or know who he is, is asked to call the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502, CrimeStoppers, or leave a tip at solvecrime.ca
