Today, our street scouting ground is Victoria – a city filled with ultra humble, easy-going individuals. On these laid-back sidewalks, we admittedly didn’t expect the fashion to be plentiful, but this time we were definitely mistaken. Not only did Victoria grace us with beautiful weather, it also graced us with some seriously cool street style looks.
Given the mild temps, the style savvy were getting away with light and clever layers. Case in point: One guy was sporting a shearling-lined jean jacket and cropped, cuffed pants. His friend cozied up in a braid-textured sweater mixed with a super plush coat and little booties – only ankle socks needed. Another girl was looking cool, yet cozy in a puffy bomber jacket and tennis-inspired skirt layered over leggings. Another went vintage athletic style in a varsity jacket, structured in wool and finished with leather sleeves.
What with the freezing temps in most parts of Canada and the US, we are feeling pretty lucky to sport these light layers – just enough to create interesting looks without being bundled to death for fear of wind chill. Take inspiration from Victoria, BC’s carefree attitude and have fun with fashion this winter! Take advantage of Vancouver’s reasonably mild temperatures by playing with light layers, colour, and texture; after all, the more layers you have to put on, the more ways you can get creative with your ensembles.
