Sometimes you just need to finish the year with a bang – or in this case, a monumental flub.
In what could quite possibly be the worst mistake in television for 2015, Miss Universe host Steve Harvey announced Miss Colombia as the winner of the pageant, when it was actually Miss Philippines.
Here is actual footage of the de-crowning of Miss Colombia:

To make matters worse, in his subsequent apology tweet, Harvey misspelled both “Colombia” and “Philippines.” Oy vey.
He deleted that tweet and put up this one after:
I'd like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible.

Of course, former Miss Universe owner and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump weighed in on the monumental mistake, saying it wouldn’t have happened had he not sold the pageant six months ago.
Very sad what happened last night at the Miss Universe Pageant. I sold it 6 months ago for a record price. This would never have happened!

People on Twitter are weighing in, with some users suggesting it was all a publicity stunt to get people talking about Miss Universe.
“Wait… What? No one is watching Miss Universe? Zero viewers?! OK, quick, give Steve the wrong name – that will make people talk about us.” — Harley (@TheHuxLee) December 21, 2015
The Miss Universe controversy just looked like a set up.

In the Miss Universe Snapchat story, Steve Harvey claims it was the TelePrompTer that caused him to read out the wrong name.

Miss Alabama conquers.
