Like Colbert himself, we want to preface this by saying that thankfully everyone involved in the shocking video of a sea lion dragging a little girl into the water is okay.

Indeed, Vancouver Aquarium has confirmed they have been in touch with the girl’s family and she only suffered superficial wounds.

With that relief comes an opportunity to poke fun at the viral video, or at least that’s what late night host Stephen Colbert thought when he included the clip in his opening monologue on Sunday night’s show.

“We have to stop selling herring-scented baby rompers,” the comic quips, before going on to describe the little girl’s rescue.

“Luckily the girl was immediately saved by a nearby action grandpa who leapt into the sea lion-infested water,” he continues. “Not that the other young able-bodied adults didn’t also help by recording and screaming, ‘Oh my god! Oh my god!'”

Check out the video above from about the 2:20 mark to see the comic do his thing.
