Teenage boy stabbed in robbery near Sungod Recreation Centre in Delta

An 18-year-old boy is recovering in hospital after being stabbed and robbed near the Sungod Recreation Centre in Delta on Tuesday night.

According to a release, Delta Police believe the teenager was robbed at the North West end of the property nearest to the arena at around 8:30 pm.

Police say the boy was approached by two male strangers wearing balaclavas, who robbed him of an iPod and other items, and stabbed him.

The injured boy then made his way to the centre, where staff gave him first aid and called 911; police arrived at the centre in the 7800 block of 112 Street at 8:36 pm.

According to the release, the boy was taken to hospital, and is now in a stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

Meanwhile, Delta Police Major Crime Section was immediately called in, say police, and K-9 deployed to help patrol officers with the investigation.

Police believe the suspects fled on foot in a north easterly direction through the parking lot toward Larson Road area.

The suspects are described as two boys or men, in their late teens or early 20s, wearing dark clothing, and both wearing balaclavas.
