This isn’t your average fundraiser.
The St. Paul’s Foundation’s Brilliant event aims to raise funds for the hospital’s mental health and addiction programs by celebrating artists such as Andy Warhol and Frida Kahlo – who were both touched by the same issues.
Brilliant 2016 promises to treat partygoers to a gala of fashion, art, and dance at the Rocky Mountaineer Train Station on Saturday, September 24.
Hosted by Virgin Radio’s Johnny Staub, the night also features a live auction with Howard Blank, a dynamic runway extravaganza of fashion, capped off by dancing to a set by GirlonWax DJ Crystal A’dare.
Some of Vancouver’s top creative talents are helping make the night a reality, including renowned makeup artist Meredith Lacosse, co-founder of Vancouver Fashion Week Vladimir Markovich, local designers Evan Clayton, Hey Jude, Action Denim by JC, Anna Talbot, and more.
Sadly, the need to support St. Paul’s mental health programs has never been greater.
“St. Paul’s sees the highest volume of patients with mental health and substance use issues in Vancouver,” says Dr. Bill MacEwan, Head of Psychiatry.
“In the last six years, St. Paul’s has seen a 112% increase in visits related to mental illness and addiction – more than 10,500 visits last year alone.”
All the proceeds from Brilliant will support the Mental Health Hub, to provide faster, more intensive care for the hospital’s most vulnerable patients, and support its addiction program.
