Spread a Little Love, a Vancouver-based organization, was founded in October 2012 by two sisters (ages 15 and 28) who share a passion for making a positive impact.
Spread a Little Love focuses on building awareness about location issues by providing fun and simple opportunities to make a difference and encourage a “love movement.” The founders believe that by communicating and creating the experience of how simple and fulfilling making a difference can be, it’ll spread the message and encourage others to follow suit.
They hope to bring 100 people from all stages of life together during Random Acts of Love (the launch event), to pay-it-forward and give back however they choose – at the same time, on the same day. The launch event will be held on Sunday, February 10, a few days before Valentine’s Day. The group will be meeting in the Downtown Eastside; the location has yet to be confirmed.
The idea for launching this organization started after the founders planned a low-key event to handout sandwiches and care packages near Oppenheimer Park during December, 2011. This experience lingered and inspired them to start Spread a Little Love, and they want to launch their organization with a similar event this year.
