Four people were arrested after shots were fired at police officers early Monday morning.

The incident began when police responded to a report that two men with firearms were seen entering a house near Sophia Street and East 51st Avenue around 1:30 am.

Officers arrived and attempted to make contact with the people inside the house, when a man came out and allegedly fired “a number of shots” before going back in the house, said the VPD in a release.

No one was injured at just before 4;30 am this morning, members of the VPD’s Emergency Response Team and negotiators arrested two men and two women in connection with the incident.

The VPD’s  Major Crime unit has taken over the investigation and police say there is no reason to believe the public are at risk.

No further information is currently available.
