Police investigate shooting in Burnaby park on Tuesday night

Police are investigating after a man was shot in a Burnaby park on Tuesday evening.

Around 9 pm, Burnaby RCMP were called to a park behind the Edmonds Community Centre (at Humphries and Elwell Street) in response to a shooting.

Upon their arrival, they found a 24-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries and was later released.

While the investigation is still in its early stages, police believe the incident was targeted and that the public is not at risk.

Police said the victim, a Burnaby resident, is known to them.
