Show you care with shoeboxes: Operation Christmas Child needs your help

Oct 26 2016, 12:02 am

The holiday season is right around the corner and many are starting to think about shopping for loved ones.

But the holiday season is also one for helping those less fortunate. Operation Christmas Child is asking for donors to fill shoeboxes with items such as toys, school supplies, and hygiene products. These shoeboxes will then be shipped across the globe to children in need.

Over the past 24 years, the campaign has helped over 100 million children. Last year, over 700,000 shoeboxes were collected.

Operation Christmas Child collects shoeboxes full of:

  • School supplies
  • Hygiene products
  • Toys
  • Personal note and a photo

Participants can bring their packed shoe boxes and drop them off at participating donation collection locations.

National Collection Week takes place from November 14 to 20. Check out samaritanspurse.ca for more information, or visit Operation Christmas Child on Facebook or Twitter.
