Bidding for former Vancouver Apple Store employee Sam Sung’s work gear closed on Friday night to a tune of CAD$2,894.56.

The highest bid reached $87,678.64 on Monday, but there were concerns that most of the bids were not real.

Most of the bids were deleted by Sung and eBay the following day, bringing the highest bid to approximately $1,900. Only 78 of the hundreds of bids were deemed legitimate.

“After reaching out to all of the bidders, and receiving no response from many of them, I have removed most of their bids,” Sung wrote on eBay. “The auction is now at a more ‘sensible’ level.”

Sam Sung used to be an Apple Specialist at Pacific Centre, which garnered attention media attention in 2012 as the irony of the situation went viral. Since then, he has left Apple to join corporate recruiting firm Holloway Schulz.

He decided to auction off a framed and autographed presentation of his Apple Store shirt, lanyard, and business card on eBay – with all the money going to Children’s Wish. The idea apparently came to him when an old business card fell out of one of his books.
