One of the longest-running, volunteer driven, BC summer music festivals, Salmon Arm Roots and Blues, is back this year with a new artistic director and many more surprises.
From August 15-17 in sunny Salmon Arm, Roots and Blues will spread joy and love at the Salmon Arm fairgrounds with musical workshops, food trucks, children’s entertainment, beer gardens and world class musical talent.
Known for seeking out fresh acts and putting them up on a stage before others take notice, Roots and Blues has a talented list of alumni that includes K’Naan, Feist, and Shane Koyzcan, Serena Ryder, Corb Lund, and many more. Last year, Salmon Arm Roots and Blues hosted such acts as Juno award winning DJ trifecta, A Tribe Called Red; Canadian indie icons, City and Colour; and local blues-rock duo, The Harpoonist & the Axe Murderer.
This year’s festival lineup crosses all musical boundaries, with acts such as Saskatoon classic rockers, The Sheepdogs; American singer-songwriter, Josh Ritter; the quick-witted M.C., Shad; as well as living legends, Canadian western veteran, Ian Tyson; and gospel-soul queen, Mavis Staples.
